Working Title: Secondary Marketing

Brief Profile of Users
Five people were selected to take part in the alpha test for the Secondary Marketing website. Two had seen the site before and three had not. I selected the mix to get a feel if the improvements were what the alpha test participants wanted and what the first impression would be like for someone who had never seen the site before.
Think Aloud Tasks
Summary of Think Aloud
Everyone was able to find the loan program numbers and the video, but had a little difficulty because they thought the Loan Program button would have led to something else, not just the program number.
New users, just like on the alpha test, were able to complete the first time user tasks without difficulty.
Those that had never viewed the site before liked the look, those that had seen it before saw improvement in the color arrangement and fonts.
Summary of Post –Test
All users liked the simplicity of the website compared to what is available to them currently.
The viewers that had seen it prior to the beta test thought, visually, there were definite improvements. The font was much better and the colors not so glaring. In the alpha test, the yellow was used for more than just an accent color. For the beta test, the primary colors are a deep navy and a mid-range blue, the yellow only used sparingly. For the beta site, the font through out was primarily confined to the sans serif Geneva family, with a less formal font used for accents only.
There was confusion with the Loan Program button and video. Users thought the button and video would be geared towards selecting what loan program would fit their borrowers needs, and not just finding a program number.
The spry continued to be an issue in that the submenus went behind the web image and not lay on top. Those that had seen the alpha version did like how they looked in comparison and were able to visualize what the final version could look like.
All in all, the beta test went well and the users would like to see something similar used throughout the company’s intranet.
Findings to be Implemented
Findings not to be Implemented
This project was selected to get an idea what a currently over crowed intranet company page could look like. Since Secondary Marketing is part of a much larger picture, the site would be part of a major overhaul by the company.
